Job Overview:

As the CFO, you’ll be an integral part of the leadership team scaling a fast-growing, venture-backed company. You will drive our financial planning, support our fundraising efforts (both equity and debt), create financial goals and forecasts, and help our leadership team make important business decisions supported by data and analysis. This will include engaging with the Board of Directors on our annual planning process and quarterly financial reporting. To be successful in the role you will need a proven track record of being an inspiring people leader, a strong cross-functional collaborator, an outstanding communicator, and a nimble, innovative, and strategic thinker. You will need the ability to understand Perx’s short and long-term strategies and translate them into actionable, motivating, and measurable goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze business risks and opportunities and make recommendations as they affect the financial results of the business
  • Refine and report on the business KPIs
  • Develop financial forecast and modelling
  • Direct all budgeting, forecasting, finance, and cash management functions
  • Drive the process and preparation of annual budgets, monthly flashes, and quarterly forecasts
  • Manage the annual operating budget and support the long-term strategic planning process
  • Develop and utilize data-driven analytics to generate value-added insights and actionable recommendations to drive growth and influence KPIs
  • Support the CEO, developing the long-term and short-term financial goals for the business
  • Create executive and Board-level presentations for Budgets, Forecasts, and Actuals vs Targets financials and KPI reporting
  • Refine performance metrics to evaluate marketing ROI and help inform marketing investment
  • Develop/refine reports and dashboards that provide actionable insight into the levers of the business
  • Assist with the development skill set of a multi-disciplinary team to evolve from statistical services to key decision influencers
  • Build a best-in-class strategic FP&A function and the team, systems, and processes to support it
  • Lead and energize the Company’s finance and operations team, building a high performance team and culture
  • Continue to optimize the appropriate org structure for the organization
  • Bring a collaborative, hands-on approach to the work, and focus on team members’ careers and professional development
  • Promote a strong sense of urgency for reaching goals and key deliverables
  • Ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements are met; provide adequate structure and discipline around internal controls and the closing process.
  • Comply with local legal requirements, as well as requisite international requirements, by studying existing and new laws and governance, lead and build tax and accounting functions, anticipating future laws; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience in the consolidation process, creation of financial valuation models (e.g. discounted cash flow), and preparation of executive presentations
  • Experience as a CFO and operations executive who has seen rapid and large-scale growth and have built world-class organizations embodying operational excellence
  • Previous experience raising money for a start-up through equity (venture capital) and debt (bank) vehicles
  • Experience with investor communications, possessing the ability to establish trust and build rapport with existing and potential investors
  • Ability to initiate and drive growth and have the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • A track record of successfully leading a finance department as well as the accounting and strategic planning functions
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the intellectual depth and maturity to work with the CEO and leadership team, board members, and investors
  • Convey and champion an understanding of best practices around structuring a finance & operations organization and experience with implementing those practices.
  • Strong math, financial and analytical skills including ability to create complex financial models and efficiently communicate results
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, management of deadlines and ability to multitask
  • Ability to initiate and drive growth and have the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information: one on one, small groups, executive management, and other employees in the organization
  • Able to exercise discretion and keep strictest levels of confidentiality
  • Creative problem solver who can courageously propose and support new ideas
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities and general growth pains of an early-stage technology company
  • Strong work ethic and ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced work environment
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented executive who is willing to roll up their sleeves. You can easily context switch from visionary to the everyday details of the finance and operations of the organization
